FREENAS NETATALK WINDOWS
two days ago Windows Server 2012 R2 appeared on MSDN. Tried LDAP authen again with FreeNAS 9.1.1 and its a no-go so far, though haven't spent a lot of time on it. COS really isn't an option as I want more than just basic RAID 5 (Windows Server Storage Spaces partially solves RAID 5 write hole, ZFS in FreeNAS supposedly completely does).Īny help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'd really like to finally get my NAS up and running on FreeNAS, though am currently considering just moving the drives to my WIndows Server 2012 box (uggh). Appears this is a bug in FreeNAS (that has not been addressed in a while apparently), though would believe with AD support on COS all would most likely work (after all, others are using FreeNAS with AD). I'd be happy to post what I've done so far, but am hoping that someone else has had more success. With some heartache, I can manage to get even the file authentication to work (more from the shell), but upon reboot of the box, it doesn't work until I manually redo this configuration. I can go to the shell and force it to join the COS domain, and then basic share level authenication "works", but file authentication still does not.

However, setting up LDAP and configuring CIFS doesn't really work completely (ie: can't join the domain from the web interface). Looks like FreeNAS only directly supports ActiveDirectory and LDAP now.

I did see some of the earlier posts here on this, but looks like noone ever fully got it to work (and apparently I got a bit farther along myself). Anyone been able to get FreeNAS 8.3.1 to successfully authenticate against COS 6.4?
